Kiwi staying with the Löwen

Contract with Niko Kijewski extended until 2021

Eintracht Braunschweig have extended the deal with defender, which was due to expire at the end of the current season, for a further three years, until June 30th, 2021.

The 21 year old made the move to Braunschweig from VfL Osnabrück in 2014, initially playing with the Under 19 Löwen. Since the 2015/2016 season, the former German youth international has been a permanent member of the professional squad. The full-back has made 20 second-flight appearances for Eintracht thus far.

"Niko’s performances in the past few years have proven to us that we can always rely on him. He has developed exceptionally well and that development is far from being complete. We firmly believe his future us with Eintracht and that he can be a very significant part of the club’s future,“ emphasised Eintracht’s Sporting Director Marc Arnold.

"It’s wonderful to know I will be part of the Löwen for the next three years. I feel very much at home here and I firmly believe staying in Braunschweig is exactly the right step for me. With that in mind, Eintracht was my first point of contact. Naturally, we are currently going through a sportingly difficult phase, but I believe we can pull out of that together and I want to play my part in making that happen,” stated Niko Kijewski upon signing his contract extension with the club.
